Architects Tessa Kelly and Chris Parkinson have created The Mastheads. It’s an architectural project and series of writing residencies that bring emerging writers to five uniquely designed writing spaces based on five 19th-century writers with Berkshire roots.

Melville described the masthead as both a place of isolation and introspection, characteristics an artist’s studio also shares.
