The Mount Greylock Visitors Center, at the western base of the moutain in Lanesborough, is a great place to stop for information and programming. Stop there on your way up to the summit or heading out for a hike.
There’s two roads up to the summit. One from the Visitors Center in Lanesborough and another road on the north side in North Adams. The roads are open for cars and bicycles May to October.
At 3,491 feet, Mount Greylock is the highest point in Massachusetts. From its peak on a clear day, you can see as far as 90 miles away.
Miles of trails climb from the valley to the summit or cross the face of the mountain looking for waterfalls. The Appalachian Trail, one of the longest continuously marked footpaths in the world, crosses the mountain.
Bascom Lodge welcomes you to the summit. Built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s, the lodge offers overnight stays, prix fixe dinners, concerts, and events.
