“Just before the Pandemic I moved from Philadelphia to Williamstown The light here just amazed me- strong and clear like spot lights casting shadows with sharp edges -so different from the hazzy blurry atmosphere I was used to.

I started painting landscapes, from a mix of photos and memories of the walks taken through the forest. I like to forage for mushrooms, to look down at the ground, to inspect the plants and insects at my feet and wonder who has walked in this space before me.

The landscape paintings I am making are uninhabited yet I want the paintings to have an awareness of something unseen that has passed before, perhaps a running animal , a resting woman, a Mohican child, a hiding outlaw. There is a story- I have always been a narrative painter.”
