Endure

During the pandemic I’ve refocused my attention back to painting. I’ve been looking at Renaissance paintings and getting inspiration from small pieces of them. These are shapes, body parts, or figurative poses that strike me as hints of an undefinable and complicated, yet weirdly familiar experience.

I put the fragments in a new context which allows for new associations and new ways of relating to the imagery. I’m developing a series of paintings that repeatedly use several of these elements. The series is starting to take on narrative qualities.
