Julia Morgan

In my work I’m drawn to make art from everyday human gestures that are so ordinary as to be easily overlooked. These gestures tell stories of lives lived. The graffiti artist, the mother of twins, the black motorist stopped by police, the lottery winner…. What does each reach for on a daily basis? How can we understand them through their gestures?

I try to describe the gestures of the everyday and consider ways ordinary moments might connect individuals as family, as community, and world peoples, and as stewards of a tilting, trembling planet.
