WordXWord encourages poets to accept a greater role in the cultural landscape, to provoke and bear witness, to use their voice to advocate for social justice, to act as agents of change, and to add their voices in celebration of the full potential of the human spirit.

Spoken word poets run mentoring programs and writing workshops in Berkshire schools and hold events year-round, from Martin Luther King Day to the annual 10×10 Festival and National Poetry Month.

They hold an annual youth poetry competition and performance in April to a week-long celebration with performances, story and poetry slams, writing workshops and downtown poetry pub sCrawls in Pittsfield in August.
