The Mount

Add to Calendar The Mount The Mount is the home of noted American author Edith Wharton, who designed the house and its grounds and considered it her "first real home." The estate is open to the public from May to October, when visitors are offered tours of the house and gardens. From November to May, the grounds remain open, though the buildings are closed unless there is a special event. The property was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1971.
